Automotive & Tools Intro Workshop

THURSDAY JANUARY 22ND | 5:30-7 PM | MAKE STUDIO | AGES 10+ | FREE 

Stand-alone workshop for all beginners of all ages (especially kids & teens) who want to learn about auto tools. Workshop is for those with little to no experience in the shop. 

Automotive & Tools Intro Workshop  

INSTRUCTOR: Steve Ford 

This one-hour, hands-on workshop will introduce kids (geared toward late middle school and teens) to basic automotive tools. Designed for beginners with no auto tools experience.  

Participants will learn:  

  • How to use a socket set

  • How to use a tire pressure gauge 

Takeaways:  

  • Participants will leave with their own tire pressure gauge!  

Materials to bring:  

  • Wear some “shop” clothes, and close-toed shoes. Try to minimize “dangles” like necklaces, bracelets, and long hair. 

 

Instructor Bio:  

Steve Ford is an ASE-certified automotive technician/instructor and award-winning broadcast journalist with a passion for demystifying cars for everyday motorists and consumers. With an interest in tools and tinkering that began when he was a child, today he also adds the years of his professional experience to share his knowledge as a volunteer teacher about the “hands-on” world of tools and how things work for children and teens.
