Join the Nritya Kalashetra Company for an enchanting musical performance showcasing Indian classical music and Anjuman, a fusion of classical and Cuban jazz fusion.
The concert will commence with a mesmerizing Indian classical segment, featuring a father-son sarod duet accompanied by tabla virtuoso Kuntal Roy from Kolkata, India. This will introduce the audience to the intricate melodies and rhythmic cadence of Indian classical music, creating a cultural bridge between Boise and the rich heritage of this art form.
Anjuman (Gathering), the Indian/Afro-Cuban ensemble, led by Sarodist Brandon McIntosh, Cuban drummer Seth Littlefield, and bassist Phil Georgas, will then take the stage. This fusion powerhouse will weave together Indian classical elements on the sarod with the dynamic beats of Cuban drumming, delivering an electrifying performance that transcends genres and showcases the diversity of musical expression.
The grand finale will feature a collaborative performance, bringing together Kuntal Roy on tabla and the talented young trombonist Rishabh McIntosh. This fusion of traditional tabla rhythms, contemporary jazz fusion, and the vibrant tones of the trombone will create a musical tapestry that reflects the spirit of unity and collaboration."
