FRENCH CRÊPES FOR FAT TUESDAY

Mardi Gras

INSTRUCTOR: The French Alliance

For Fat Tuesday French people make crêpes. We will prepare the batter altogether in the shared kitchen, then teach you how to make these very thin pancakes. Crêpe parties are French-speaking countries favorite gatherings as they are so lively! Each crêpe takes 3-4 minutes to cook and people usually eat many, on which they spread jam, honey or Nutella.

Several burners will be available so each of you can practice “jumping” crepes while holding a coin in their hand. If the crêpe flips and lands flat, it brings good luck and prosperity!

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:

  • French Crêpes recipe

  • How to make the batter

  • How to cook thin crêpes

  • How to flip crêpes

TAKEAWAYS:

  • Cooking together

  • Collaborating – 6 people teams for each batter

  • Laughing

MATERIALS TO BRING:

NONE

INSTRUCTOR BIO: The instructors are all from French-speaking countries. They run the non-profit organization “the French Alliance”. They love to celebrate the traditions of French-speaking countries through cooking and tasting events! Many of our traditions are tied to special dishes!
