ILLUMiBRATE: TO THE MOON & BACK
A Light & Color Festival

ILLUMiBRATE is our yearly celebration of all things light and color, featuring interactive exhibits and performances throughout the night. This year we will highlight creative installations by our three Resident Creatives for the inaugural round of our Resident Creative Program.

From the PIONEER Room to the SKIP Building, from the five studios to the lobby, every space will light up to take you on a journey...to the moon and back.

TICKETS ARE FREE BUT REQUIRED!

Enter through one of our Check-in Portals on Levels 1, 3, 4, and the basement. Check-in is required! In order to maintain building capacity and make it a safe and fun event for everyone, we will be doing timed entry! Reserve your time now; spaces will be fill quickly!

LEVEL 1:

MAIN ENTRY CHECK IN (Outside JUMP Main Entrance)

Out in front of the JUMP building will be volunteers ready to take your tickets! Tickets are required this year, so be sure to check in before you begin!

We’ve set up the most high-tech training obstacle course for all our intergalactic travelers…

ANDROMEDA (SKIP)

·      Naturally Digital: an immersive and interactive multi-sensory art experience showcasing the harmony that can be achieved when the natural and digital worlds are as one.

 

MISSION CONTROL (LOBBY)

Welcome inside Jupiter’s Ultragalactic Messenger of Peace (JUMP).

·      If you need help, visit the front desk located in Mission Control.

·      Discover a display of treasures aliens have collected on their journeys through space and time.

 

LEVEL 2:

Every spaceship has a captain’s quarters! Level 2 is where the JUMP aliens oversee the inner workings of the spaceship. Nothing to see here…

 

LEVEL 3:

If you’ve parked on the 3rd floor, you can check in at the 3rd floor check in portal. Volunteers will also be there to help guide and answer questions.

The Gold Record Listening Lounge (45 min)
In 1977, the Gold Record was launched into space consisting of songs, mathematics algorithms, greetings in many languages, words of wisdom, nature sounds, poetry and more.  Come listen as we ponder our place in the universe.

THE MOON (PIONEER)

Can you make it all the way to the moon? This room will be filled with extraterrestrial entertainment all night long.

·      The Colossal Collective is bringing to JUMP one of their biggest puppet undertakings yet… a larger-than-life Wooly Mammoth! Tip: Space mammoths can usually be found outdoors. 

 

MONOLITHS (Kiosks)

Stop to admire the incredible work of JUMP Alien, Kailey Johnson at any of the monoliths around the building.

 

ALIEN SPOTTING

Be on the lookout for two trouble making aliens…and if you find them, remember what you learned in the safety video!

 

CANTINAS

Sometimes aliens and astronauts alike just need an ice cold…soda (or adult beverage if you are an of-age space traveler). There are four Cantinas; you can find these on the Moon, the Moon lobby, Silent Space Disco, and in the 5th level lobby.

 

PLANETARY PONDERING

Throughout many of the spaces, you will find reflective prompts. We invite you to think about the questions and add your answer!

 

RESTROOMS…IN SPACE

Yes, even our bathrooms are themed. You can find restrooms on floors one, four, five, and six. Follow the signs or ask a volunteer to point you to the nearest restroom.

FEATURED CREATIVE RESIDENTS:

  • Andrew Nemr | MOVE Studio

Mentored by Gregory Hines, Andrew Nemr is an international artist, teacher, and speaker with work across music, dance, theatre, film, and the visual arts, exploring tap dance as a vehicle for storytelling and community building. The New York Times described Andrew as “a masterly tapper.”

Andrew is featured on a Grammy-nominated recording by Dave Eggar, he founded the Nemr Institute for Spiritual Formation and Creativity, is the topic of award-winning documentary Identity: The Andrew Nemr Story, and writes for The Notes with Andrew Nemr.

He is most fond of his ability to wiggle his ears. 

 

  • Casey Nova | SKIP Building

Casey Nova is a multi-disciplinary artist focusing on the nexus of light, architecture, tech, and nature. He brings his unrelenting optimism and curiosity of the world around us back to JUMP for ILLUMiBRATE 2025. He and his Sensebellum studio team will create the ultimate expression of geodesic living, interactive art, the natural world, and our modern abilities, all living in harmony. 

 

  • The Colossal Collective | JUMP Park

The Colossal Collective is a group of Boise-based artists, engineers, builders, and performers who collaborate around a singular mission: to create magic and spread a sense of childlike wonder through their larger-than-life puppets.  

Since forming in 2012, their creations make regular appearances at the ILLUMiBRATE, Treefort Music Festival, the Idaho Botanical Gardens, and art festivals throughout the region. They’re also frequently spotted roaming the streets of downtown Boise.  

The group was founded by local artist Sam Johnson. Sam grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and studied fine art at Whitman College, and business administration at Boise State University. He is a firm believer that art should be experienced and interacted with, not just observed and consumed.
