Develop critical thinking skills by using the Blender to make movies.
Blender is a free, open-source 3D computer graphics software suite used for modeling, animation, rendering, VFX, and video editing. It supports the entire 3D pipeline and is suitable for beginners to professionals.
The class will focus on an Introduction to the user interface and on learning to build a basic 3-D character, apply materials, add clothing, and rig the model with an armature to animate the character’s movement. Add the character to an environment, set up 3-point lighting, and animate the camera to create a cinematic sequence. Record the motion to video.
Key Features & Capabilities of Blender:
3D Modeling & Sculpting: Extensive tools for creating 3D models, including mesh modeling, sculpting, and curve editing.
Rendering: Features Cycles, a high-end production path tracer, and Eevee, a real-time render engine.
Animation & Rigging: Advanced tools for character animation and rigging.
VFX & Compositing: Includes motion tracking, masking, and compositing, allowing users to combine 3D elements with live-action footage.
Simulation: Offers industry-standard libraries for simulations, including smoke,
PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:
Overcoming the interface hurdle and mastering the "Big Three" (Modeling, Shading, Lighting).UI Customization, Navigation, and "Object Mode" vs. "Edit Mode.
Mesh Topology & Hard Surface Modeling (creating a high-fidelity 3D prop).
Introduction to PBR Texturing and Shading (making materials look real).
Lighting Fundamentals (Three-point lighting, HDRI, and the Eevee vs. Cycles engines).Phase 2: Dynamic Skills 5: Keyframe Animation & Graph Editor (making objects move with "weight").
Modern Essentials: Geometry Nodes (procedural world-building).
Physics Simulations (Cloth, Rigid Bodies, and Fluid basics).
Character Basics: Rigging, Weight Painting, and the "Armature" system.
TAKEAWAYS:
You will leave with a class collaboration video that demonstrates your grasp of Blender and your understanding of sharing projects and contributing models used in the video short.
Must register by June 24th.
