The Dreamweaver Filmmaking Collective at JUMP is holding open auditions for their short films written and produced by local film enthusiasts to debut at the Idaho Film Festival in January 2027 at JUMP!

Auditions are May 2nd, 9AM-3PM in The Loft on Level 5 of JUMP. Come by anytime within the window to try out, no need to sign ahead of time.

OPEN CASTING CALL

WHAT TO PACK FOR THE APOCALYPSE 

SUMMARY: With cataclysm looming and safety far away, two couples need to make hard decisions on what to take with them – and what to leave behind. 

  • Whitney – Female, 30s, takes herself and her responsibilities seriously. Frustrated by the incompetence of those around her. May not actually be as competent as she thinks, hides it with mask of certainty. 

  • Keith – Male, 30s, eager to be seen as capable and reliable. Sees the apocalypse as an opportunity to be a “real man”. Pretends he knows more than he does. 

  • Blake – Male, 20s, knows he’s a screwup. Used to coasting through his youth with no responsibility, hasn’t ever felt pressure to change until now. 

  • Daisy – Female, 20s, very ill. Fears that she’s not going to get any better. 

  • Anchor – Male/Female, 40s+, national news anchor trying their best to keep calm and professional. 

 

GERMS 

SUMMARY: A germophobe attempts to endure a date, despite the interference of mischievous germs. 

  • Jean – Female, 20s, constantly agitated by fear of germs. Desperately wants to live her life, pursue romance, but the germs won’t let her be. 

  • Dusty – Male, 20s, earnest and romantic, but sloppy. Can run his mouth all day.  

  • Mark – Male, 20s-30s, sick with the flu, doesn’t care who he infects. 

  • Elderly Woman – Female, 60s+, tries hard to be kindly and grandmotherly, whether people want it or not. 

 

LUCKY PENNY 

SUMMARY: When a down-on-his-luck man picks up a supposedly “lucky” penny from the street, it kicks off a series of acts of kindness that pass from person to person 

  • Troy – Male, 30s, caring and optimistic. Tries hard to be there for his friends. 

  • Justin – Male, 30s, down on his luck and not at all happy about it. Feels like life’s been kicking him around. 

  • Barista – Male/Female, any age, cheerful. 

  • Allen – Male, 40s-60s, homeless and desperate for some good luck. Suspicious of others, but real friendly when you get to know him. 

  • Cynthia – Female, 30s-40s, single mother, stressed out of her mind. Touchy and irritable, but capable of softness too. 

  • Mel – Female, 30s-40s, currently going through a manic episode. In a very bad place mentally, needs someone to help her through it. 

  • Julie – Female, 40s, late for work and really doesn’t need this right now. 

  • Elderly Man – Male, 70s+, friendly and helpful. 

  • Man in Car – Male, 20s-50s, helpful and reliable. 

  • Matt – Male, 30s, avid cyclist, knows a thing or two about cars. 

 

CAREER 

SUMMARY: A young man, with the help of an older friend, takes his first reluctant steps into a career path.   

  • Mikey – Male, 20s, reluctant to begin his first serious job as a grown man. Worries he might go down a path he can’t come back from, will lose the freedom and passion of his youth. 

  • Ed – Male, 30s-40s, working man who takes his job seriously. Wants to help ease Mikey into adulthood. 

 

JOB INTERVIEW (WITH THE VAMPIRE) 

SUMMARY: Count Dracula interviews for a job at a pharmaceutical company, only to discover that he is seriously out of touch with the modern world. 

  • Burt – Male, 40s-50s, handles interviews for a major company. His dedication to his job has hollowed him out of all human emotion save for a fondness for Dad jokes. 

  • Dracula – Male, 500s but looks younger, Count of Transylvania, King of the Vampires, Emperor of the Night. Very theatrical in presentation. Used to being feared and respected. Not used to being in a subordinate position. 

 

FIGHT SCENE 

SUMMARY: A filmmaker gets into a fight and must fight back the only way he knows how – using movie magic.   

  • Jeorge – Male, 20s-30s, hardworking indie filmmaker. Struggles with the pressures and pains of being an artist. Mousy but with a hidden action-hero side. Stage combat experience preferred. 

  • Ched – Male, 20s-30s, great big jerk. Used to bullying everyone around him. Has the fighting skills to back up his threats. Hidden soft side. Stage combat experience preferred. 

  • Lea – Female, 30s, friendly local barista. Gets on well with the customers, knows not to take er job too seriously. 

  • Paul – Male, 20s, newbie barista. Unsure of himself, prone to existential angst. 

  • Wyatt – Male, 30s-50s, veteran stunt performer. Blue-collar attitude.
