Midlife Movement for Women

SATURDAYS | OCT 3RD-OCT 24TH | 12-1 PM

Once a week workshop series for four weeks. Meant to be paired with MENOPAUSE: UNDERSTANDING YOUR CHANGING BODY. Sign up separately. Beginner to more advanced movers- all sizes, shapes and skill levels welcome. Must be able to get on and off the floor independently.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Are you peri or postmenopausal and experiencing changes in your strength or balance? Do you have more aches and pains? Less energy? Are you having difficulty exercising the way you used to?

When women reach midlife, the effects of aging and declining hormones have an impact on our muscles, bones, joints, and connective tissues. This can impact our strength, balance, flexibility and mobility as well as our cardiovascular systems, metabolism and mental and emotional wellbeing.

Finding ways to move our bodies that feels good and improves our strength, flexibility and well being is key to navigating this stage of life. This class is a synthesis of simple movements and exercises from many traditions--to improve strength, balance and flexibility, promote relaxation and rejuvenation, and spark joy!

PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN:

  • How to contract and relax your core, including your pelvic floor

  • How to coordinate your breathing with exercises

  • Simple movement sequences, stretches and strengthening exercises you can use at home with no equipment needed.

TAKEAWAYS:

  • Connect with your body and other midlife women in a fun, supportive environment. Learn how to listen to your body and move with its needs in mind while improving your strength, balance, mobility and wellbeing.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Wear something flexible, comfortable and fun to move in- that also makes you feel happy! (sarongs, leggings, sweats, tutus, whatever feels good to you).

  1. If minimum capacity is not met, the workshop will be cancelled. 

  2. CANCELLATION POLICY: If you are no longer able to attend, a full refund (minus service fees) is available for cancellations made up to 2 weeks (14 calendar days) prior to the workshop start date. Cancellations made less than 14 calendar days are nonrefundable. If JUMP cancels the workshop for any reason, attendees will be issued a full refund with fees.
